Passion for God

“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” — A.W. Tozer

At Mountain Life, we want people’s “Passion for God” to always be growing. It should be the motivating factor for all we do, and it should be evident – in our church activities and worship, and in our daily lives. Webster’s defines passion as “an object of desire or deep interest” or an “intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction” . We believe that God should be our “object of desire”, our “object of deep interest”.

We believe that the more you truly know about God and who He is, the more your passion for Him will grow. We live in the most fast moving, transient time in history — juggling tons of information, bombarded with junk mail, pulled in many directions, often living in fatigue. Yet, God commands us in Psalm 46:10 to “Be still and know that I am God.”

For most of us, “being still” means we must take a stand against the crazy, busy lifestyle that so defines our age. We must identify times during our week to open our hearts to God, connect with Him through prayer, meditate on His word, and seek to discover who God really is. So, we ask you – how big of a priority is it to grow your passion for God? Do you want to know Him better? Will you commit to growing with us?

We believe one of the keys to growing in our passion for God is learning about His character. Therefore, our focus in the coming year will be to provide you resources to learn about the character of God through His many attributes (character traits).
