Wednesday Evenings

Bad Girls of the Bible by Liz Curtis Higgs, begins January 18, 6:30 – 8:00 pm
facilitated by Tricia Hazelrigg |805.284.3591 ; childcare is provided.

This is a study on ten of the Bible’s best-known femmes fatales who parade across the pages of “Bad Girls of the Bible” with situations that sound – oh so familiar. Eve had food issues. Potiphar’s Wife and Delilah had man trouble. Lot’s Wife and Michal couldn’t let go of the past, Sapphira couldn’t let go of her money and Jezebel couldn’t let go of anything. Yet the Woman at the Well quenched her thirst for the truth, while Rahab and the Sinful Woman left their sordid histories behind, proving Bad Girls can have a gloriously good future. These ten sisters will show us why studying the Bible has never been more fun!

Thursday Mornings

Beth Moore – James, resumes Jan. 5, 9-11 am
facilitated by Barbara Kelley-Deluca | 801.680.2229

Meets at the home of Barbara Kelley Deluca, in Jeremy Ranch: 4145 Surise Drive; call to sign-up and order a workbook.

The Smart Step-Family by Ron Deal, begins Jan. 19, 9-11 am, MLC Room 105
facilitated by Candy Morken | 609.870.4829; childcare provided.

Putting together a step-family is one of the most difficult tasks for any family in America today. This involves combining two unique family styles, various personalities and preferences, differing traditions, pasts, and loyalties.

The purpose of this study is to give you a healthy picture of a successful Christian step-family based on God’s instruction manual. This can be done if you work smarter, not harder. Working smarter means understanding the dynamics of step-family life and development, and making intentional decisions about how you will grow together emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. This study is for women who are currently remarried into some form of a step-family or if you are soon-to-be-married. You will learn to do the following things:

  • Recognize the unique personality and place of each family member.
  • Solve the everyday puzzles of step-parenting and stepchildren relationships.
  • Learn communication skills to deal with ex-spouses.
  • Honor families of origin while developing new traditions.
  • Invest the time to grow their stepfamilies slowly rather than look for instant results.

Cost of materials is $25.

Precept Upon Precept Inductive Studies – 1 Corinthians, begins January 19, 9-11 am
facilitated by Cindy Yager | 801.860.1105; childcare is provided.

This is a 12-week inductive study that will cover many topics that are so relevant for us; overcoming divisions & difficulties in the body, spirituals gifts, and more. Why are there so many divisions in the church? Why does the church sometimes tolerate sin? Are you experiencing any of the same problems that the Corinthians did in your own relationships or in your church? If you have similar questions, this study is an important resource. Learn how to pray by knowing God’s mind and will on divisions. What does God say about marriage, divorce, remarriage? Tongues? Prophecy? Giving? Paul addresses these issues raised by Corinthian believers.
