For most people, the month of February and Valentine’s Day bring thoughts of expressing our love to those we care about — our spouse, our children, our parents and perhaps our friends. For some though, it may not be a time we look forward to for personal reasons. Perhaps we are recently divorced, have lost our parents, or have a prodigal child. Perhaps we feel lonely or unlovable.
Whatever our circumstances, we need to remember who loves us the most — God! This month we focus on God’s incredible love that is found in His Word, His creation, and His providence for each of us. God’s love is only one of His many attributes that make Him who He is, but if we can truly grasp how deep His love is for us, we will be forever changed.
Romans 8:38-39 states “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)” What an awesome promise!
We challenge you to focus on God’s Love throughout the month of February. Every morning, ask God to reveal His love for you in a recognizable way. Ask yourself the following questions:
You may want to take notes to remember what He reveals to you, or write your own thoughts about His amazing love. You can use the resources below to find different ways to focus on God’s love through reading, meditating on scripture, or even watching a short video.
One of our members, Kerri Whipple, has written a heartwarming reflection on God’s love and how she views it in her own life. Kerri and her husband Jeff have lived in Park City for a year and a half and have three children: Hailey (15), Matt (12) and Amy (10). Kerri loves to hike, travel, and be with her family. She also is a mentor Mom for Mountain Life MOPS.
